Giving My Best (GMB)
Well, basically gw bikin thread ini buat melanjutkan 'interview' dengan Sidneymo...Kalo Sid gak keberatan..hehe  Selain itu ya tentu aja sebagai tempat buat ngomongin everything about GMB - From fans, for fans - just as usual...Ya udahlah cukup basa-basinya semua pasti udah pada ngerti kan...
Hmmm...Btw, gw punya beberapa pertanyaan 'interview' buat Sid, yg sebenernya udah kepikiran dari dulu2, tapi entah kenapa baru inget akhir2 ini...Gpp kan gw 'interview' lagi? Itung2 nambah ilmu dari pakarnya...
1.) Album 'Atmosphere' dirilis dalam dua bahasa, Indo en Inggris. Sebenernya, mayoritas lagu2 dalam album 'Atmosphere' tuh aslinya ditulis pake bahasa apa?
2.) Is it hard to translate a song into another language without changing the meaning behind it?
3.) Apakah ada tips2 tertentu supaya nggak grogi diatas panggung? *pertanyaan ini emang ngga ada hubungannya ama GMB, but basically it's just for my own knowledge...*
4.) Lo pernah nulis lagu buat cewe gak Sid? Ayoo, ngaku loo! Hehehe...Honestly I love to hear love songs that based on Christian point of view. Gimana kalo di album solo lo yg berikut ada satu 'love song' yg lo dedikasikan buat istri lo? *Atau bahkan mungkin kalian berdua nyanyi duet?* Cuma usul... 
5.) Apa sih pengalaman yg paling berkesan buat lo diatas panggung? (gw tau pertanyaan ini klise banget, en mungkin lo udah pernah ratusan kali ngejawabin beginian, tapi gw suka denger cerita2 kaya gini... ) Entah kocak, memalukan, ancur, keren, gila, pokoknya yg paling berkesan
Ya udah segini dulu deh, entar bingung ngejawabinnya...

Hehe.. listnya okay juga nich.. Okay, I'll try to answer one by one yach?

Well.. when I write songs it is easier for me to write in English.. ehm, bukan untuk2 sombong2an, but it's because I grew up in America since I was 11 years old sampe aku umur 22.. so my native tongue is definitely English.. So when it comes to writing (whether it's songs or articles) I always think in English first. Now, back to your question... untuk Atmosphere, aku tulis lyric bahasa Indonesia duluan, because I know that it would be more difficult to write in Indonesian.. (jadi ibaratnya bersusah-susah dahulu, bersenang2 kemudian.. or something like that.. hehe).. Kalo yang versi bahasa Inggrisnya was actually a lot faster, karena lagu2nya udah lebih familiar di kuping..
2.) Is it hard to translate a song into another language without changing the meaning behind it?
Yes.. ehm, someone once told me bahwa dlm bahasa Inggris ada lebih dari 40,000 verbs, dibandingin sama bahasa Indonesia yang hanya memiliki kurang lebih 3,000 verbs... so yeah, you can imagine the difficulty in writing in both languages while trying to maintain the meaning of what we want to say. Another thing, bahasa Indonesia mempunyai 'pemenggalan kata2' yang lebih banyak dibanding bahasa Inggris. Contoh: 'won't-you-come' kalo diterjemahkan akan menjadi 'ma-u-kah-eng-kau-da-tang'... so yeah.. it's very difficult. Akhirnya aku memutuskan untuk menulis lyric yang tidak terlalu 'sama' meaning-nya dengan yang bahasa Indonesia. I mean, kalo cocok, then it's good.. tapi jangan dipaksa.. hehe

Hehe.. ehm, I always remind myself bahwa I'm singing/performing for God and not for men.. Everytime I stand behind a microphone I know that I'm not 'entertaining' men but I'm pleasing God.. I mean, let's admit it, alasan kita grogi kan karena kita ngga mau tampil 'jelek' di depan orang2, right?.. We don't want to 'screw up'.. So for me, why should I be nervous performing for my God, when He loves me no matter what I do.. So yeah, everytime aku merasa 'grogi' (mungkin karena venue-nya gede ato orangnya bejubel) aku ingetin diri sendiri aja buat siapa aku nyanyi.. And another tips: HAVE FUN!! When we (GMB) perform, we always try to have a good time on stage.. because once you lose the fun, then it becomes a job, man..

Hahaha.. you know what? For my wedding last month, I wrote my own 'Vow' song.. ehm, and it was a surprise for my wife.. Jadi abis kita say our 'I do's', I grabbed the mike and started singing a song I wrote called "My Very Best".. (lagu itu aku mau masukin di album solo yang kedua nich.. hehe).. but it's more of a 'wedding vow' kind of love song.. Ehm, my wife cried when I sang it at our wedding..

Apa yach? Banyak sich sebenarnya.. dari yang gila2an kayak orang2 pada nyerbu naik ke-atas panggung selagi kita nyanyi (si Amos dipeluk cowok2 sambil main drum, kita di cubitin sambil nyanyi/ main musik), di cakar sampe berdarah2, ada cewek yang lari keatas panggung untuk cium pipi.. etc, etc.. Kadang2 aku ampe heran, are these concerts a 'Christian' concert? cuz people can be so wild sometimes..
Ehm, waktu GMB konser di Malaysia for the first time, we were surprised at how many people showed up. Thousands of kids came, and 75% of them were Malaysians (not Indonesians).. and yang bikin kita lebih surprise lagi, mereka semua hafal all the lyrics of every song we sang.. Later on we found out that many of these Malaysian kids bertobat after listening to our albums. Somehow God touched them as they listened. Kita tercengang aja lagu2 kita bisa menjadi dampak di negara lain.. Dan mereka lebih heboh lagi kalo nonton concert.. hehe..
Apa lagi yach? Ehm, pernah kita concert and listriknya mati.. so automatically ga ada instrumen yang nyala kecuali my acoustic, tapi itupun ga kedengaran karena yang dateng banyak banget.. but everyone kept singing and worshipping God for almost 10 minutes.. No one stopped, no one 'boo'ed' the panitia, but they were just singing and worshipping God.. So yeah, we know that it's not us or our music, it was definitely His presence.. These are some of the stories that I remember right now.. nanti kalo inget lagi aku cerita deh.. hehe.
'napa Rensis keluar dari GMB?
Well, awalnya sich karena Rensis sekolah ke Aussie (ke Hillsong College di Sydney).. Waktu itu JPCC (gereja kita) ingin mengirim Rensis sekolah ke sana dan akhirnya kita (GMB) memutuskan untuk dia pergi dan konsentrasi di sana.. Dan waktu kita ketemu Jeffry Hermanto, kita aja dia untuk gabung.. Sekarang Rensis ada di TW Productions, kita sekantor sama2.. Dia malah lebih heboh lagi sekarang, ngurusin Multimedia di JPCC, dan masih main bass for TW.
Hehehe.. udah cukup interview-nya? Ato masih ada lagi? Wah, jangan yang susah2 yach? Thanks guys...

Well.. aku fulltime di JPCC di P&W Department, dan aku juga fulltime di TW Productions sebagai Creative Director... so kalo di kantor aku oversee project2 yang sedang/akan dikerjain oleh JPCC maupun TW Productions. Contohnya, on July 4th nanti JPCC ultah yang ke-5 and we're gonna have a celebration di Bidakara.. and along with my team we're making the concept and rundown of the event. I'm also producing my next solo album (and that needs a lot of paperwork and management.. hehe, kan bikin album ga cuman sekedar dateng ke studio and record.. we need to prepare the budgeting rundown, the logistics, etc).. Ehm, so that's what I do at the office.. Oh yeah, aku juga ngecheck2 forum di AP dan email2an di Friendster.. hahahaha..
denger-denger TW mao konser lagi y..
Ehm, bukan TW sich, tapi JPCC mau ulang tahun yang ke-5, and we're gonna have a celebration tgl. 4 July di Bidakara.. (semua anggota TW dan GMB kan berjemaat di JPCC)
