God, Our Ever Present Help in Time of Need!

'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' Psalm 46:1
Isn't this a wonderful promise? But let's look at the following verses. 'Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof…'
Do we understand these verses or do we just read them and pass over them lightly? Let's take time to rephrase them and meditate on them for a moment.
'Never again do you need to fear. It does not matter if the whole world is in turmoil, or if the earth quakes, or if the oceans swell, or if the mountains crumble into the sea. Oh things may be in complete chaos or a total uproar all around you, but you do not need to fear!'
WOW! Does this describe you? Is your heart so at 'peace' that if everything is turned upside down in your life, you will not fear. If we really knew God and Who He Is and how much He really loves us, this would absolutely describe our life! We would be at 'peace' in the midst of every trial and thing that upsets us!
We titled this devotional – God is an ever present help in the time of need. I am sure we have quoted that verse many times. But have we applied it to every part of our life? Right now the world is in a fearful time. Is your heart at 'peace' in the midst of what is going on around you and our nation and world? If we are not at 'peace' in the midst of our trials or because of what is going on around us, then may I ask you (and myself), what do we have that the world does not have? We say we have God, but does our life demonstrate the 'peace' that He brings in the midst of every trial? Does God actually make a difference in your life? I am afraid for many of us, in reality in difficult situations, we have a head knowledge of God and the reality of Who God is really hasn't affected our hearts or lives!
We lack that relationship with God that is so vital to our lives! We must take time to fellowship with Him and get to know Him. He has to be more than mere head knowledge. We need to know that He is with us and will ever be with us in trouble! God needs to make a difference in our lives. We need to be different and live different because we know Him and if we really know Him we will hear His Voice and trust and absolutely lean on Him come what may!
My friend, this is the time that you must choose to develop a relationship with God. You need Him! Let Him make a difference in your life! Fear must be removed and God, alone, can do that! Fear opens the door for the enemy to make havoc in your life. God longs for you to let Him make a difference in your life and to let the 'Peace of God' rule your heart and your life. It is possible! It is God's plan for you! It is not God's plan for you to be filled with fear! Fear is from the enemy and the enemy is out to devour whoever he can, Don't let it be you!
To change your life and let God make a difference, you must decide to change your lifestyle and take time to know God by spending time with Him.
God IS an ever present help in the time of need! But only those that know Him will be able to receive this kind of help! You must be able to trust Him. Fear and Peace cannot co-inhabit. They are constantly at war one with the other. You must choose! You will choose the one you spend the most time with! Let it be God and His Peace!
